Currently Knitting...

I am beyond in love with this colour yarn, plus it has that untreated smell which I adore! I got it in Perth when we were doing the show there at this fabulous yarn shop which I shall be blogging about very soon. Plus look at my luverly chic black needles with mother of pearl tops...a Christmas gift from Mama Mooskin  - they are DiViNe!

It's going to be a cowl...hopefully a gorgeous one....

My Birthday Treats!

I know it was aaages ago, (in fact it's The Big One's Birthday next week) but rather late then never when it comes to sharing new pur-chases.

You may remember one of my (many) lovely birthday pressies from The Big One was a shopping spree in Belfast. He said it was a 'Brewster's Millions' situation and I had to spend all the dosh that day on myself. I know -  Best Boyfriend Award Nomination.

So here's what I gots!

Quite a swag eh!?

I have worn eveything at least once and I am still de-lighted with each and every item...cos they make me feel like a princess, a much treated princess.  Lets hope I can make him feel similarly spoilt next weekend!!

Song of The Week

Sooo beautiful! This week I have chosen Sia's Breathe Me.

I don't feel as melancholy as this song but my heart aches for it's beauty.

Enjoy - it's on the music player just...

"Ouch I have lost myself again
Lost myself and I am nowhere to be found,
Yeah I think that I might break
I've lost myself again and I feel unsafe"

- (Breathe Me) Sia

Just Read....

This was a birthday gift from one of my cast mates and it was fascinating, I don't know a great deal about the silent movie era and this book charts the relationship between a young ingenue, Greta Garbo, and an Actor at the top of his game,  John Gilbert.

As her star rises his falls. It reveals the politics of the MGM studio, the world of early celebrity and the culture clash between two very different people. It's a really good read.

"Being a movie star, and this applies to all of them, means being looked at from every possible direction. You are never left at peace, you're just fair game."

Just Read...

It was a really good read, loads of insightful stories of her time at MGM, some crazy anecdotes about other stars such as Joan Crawford, Bette Davis and Ava Gardner. You can definitely hear her voice in it and although she obviously tries to make you agree with her point of view it's written in such a way that you have room for your own, in my case, conflicting, opinions on her choices.

It's definitely made me want to watch some of her movies, I don't think I've ever seen one.

Finally the Cold/Fog is Lifting

I know I haven't posted in aaages, Scotland was busy then getting home and mounting the show here in London was even busier and I got sick! I lost my voice on opening night and although I managed to pull enough voice together for the show each and every day since has been a battle to get better and get enough voice and energy for each night.

I am almost all better thank goodness and so hope to be posting again on a regular basis.

Just wanted to say howdy-doody-de and don't forget me cos I am on the return...and mend.

P.S I went for a run today for the first time in ages and boy oh BOY was that messy. I am sooo unfit, I'm on a complete health kick now after that shock-a-ma-life.

Thank You Note

Dear Belfast,

Thank you so much for having me again. I have enjoyed my time here immensely. I'm sorry I didn't get to see all you have to offer, particularly the Lisburn Road vintage shopping and the markets but judging from how hard it has been to pack everything I have acquired maybe it was for the best!

I particularly enjoyed spending my birthday here and with such lovely friends and eating such lovely food! It was one I will treasure and smile at the memory of for a long time to come.

I love your new theatre, I think it is something to be treasured and cherished and I will be eternally proud that I played there in it's opening season. I am only sorry that I will miss the immensely talented HawkandFallow perform there as I know she will be incredible. Look after her for me then send her home safe back to London because I know it misses her while she's away.

The weather was on the whole pretty nice and it was great to see you all sunny and happy as opposed to last time when you were quite frosty.

Anyway, time to go. Going to stay with Scotland for a bit then head home. Thanks again for having me, it's always special and never taken for granted.

Hope to return one day!

It Sure Was One to Remember

So my birthday has been and gone and it was s-u-p-e-r-b!

I was so spoilt that I need a new word for spoilt!

It started with The Big One's arrival on Friday, the best present I could wish for to have him here.

I woke up Saturday morning to cards from Patch &  Tache and My Lovely Dad. Then I had a pressie to open from The Big One - the lovely Liberty Feather print notebook I had featured on here with another pale blue Liberty notebook!

Then the card - I knew we were going for dinner and staying in a hotel but I didn't know I was going to be given a wodge of spending money for a shopping trip!

So gasps and hugs later we had breakfast at the lovely Cafe Renoir with a friend and fellow actor, I shall blogname him...The Mac. It was lovely to see him before he heads off to Serbia and weeks of filming exciting new things plus breakfast was pretty de-lish!

Then I had a matinee show but not before a wander and a perusal in the Oxfam bookshop where I found a biography of Esther Williams. Wandering a bit more we headed into Maggie Mays for a birthday Oreo milkshake - I have never seen a bigger milkshake!

Matinee over I headed back with The Big One to hang out in my onesie and eat the chocolate covered pretzels he'd brought over with him.

Evening show and once it was over I met The Big One and Spaghetti Arms in the bar for a quick drink with some other actors we know and then we headed to Barking Dog for a lovely dinner with HawkandFallow! The night was long, loud and lovely and at about 2am The Big One and I fell into bed.

Sunday: Lazy morning, Sunday show then met The Big One at the theatre to head to the lovely Malmaison hotel! It was gorgeous! Bit of a nap later we headed out for yet another birthday dinner, this time at Made in Belfast.

After filling ourselves to bursting with scrumminess we headed to the cinema to watch Rise of The Planet of The Apes which was brilliant.

So next was Monday and my birthday shopping trip....
